2 Lines Marking on Food Packaging

Background

This manufacturer and packager potato products is using stamp pad to mark their coated Aluminum covers for food packaging. This is because early tests with competitive ink jet equipment were unsuccessful due to high maintenance.

Application

The requirement of this application is printing of product manufacturing date and expiry date. The customer is expecting minimal investment that would able to meet their requirements which are user friendly, clear print quality, low cost per print and low maintenance system.

Solution

Using Videojet 37e, the application engineer saw an opportunity to propose a solution. Ink selection would be critical to proving out this application. 16-8700 stepped up to the challenge, and answered all the customers' needs. It had decent dry time, good adhesion, provided good reliability and very economic. The production operators have master the keyboard functions of Videojet 37e printer after a 2 hours training. The customer states that the difference between our equipment and the competitors is "unbelievable".

Coding on Steel Sheets

Background
The customer is in the steel shearing manufacturing environment.

Application Requirement
White and Black Color batch number coding on the sheet is required depending on material which are mild steel, 304L, 304, 304/L or 316 Stainless Steel. The operating environment is typically exposed to extensive dust and dirt which is unavoidable in the industry of steel manufacturing.

Solution
REA-JET 16 Dots system (DOD Technology) with pigmented ink system and die based ink system were installed on the cut to length machine. During the shearing process, the steel coil is being pulled to the desired length prior to cutting, the REA-JET system which is synchronized with the wheel encoder print the batch number on the steel while it move past the printhead.

Changing the ink color from white to black or vice versa is made so easy by just connecting the respective ink system to the printhead without tedious flushing of ink system and re-calibration of the system.
