The VJ1510- A compliment for Videojet Excel series?

During the quarter 4 of 2008, all the distributors of Videojet Inc. were delighted because the new pump driven and mobile CIJ, VJ1510 is made available for them to market at the respective region.

You may be asking that a pump driven and mobile CIJ is nothing new, why were they so excited?

Yes. You’re right that this is nothing new. In fact the VJ1510 has got nothing to shout about. But, this is probably the first pump driven and mobile CIJ that these channel partners of Videojet Inc. are authorised to sell.

These channel partners of Videojet are all these while selling the air driven Excel series and 37 series. Even after the merger of Videojet with Willett, Videojet is maintaining dual-channel where the Videojet channel is selling the air driven CIJs while the Willett channel is pushing the pump driven CIJs like Videojet 43s, Videojet 46s, Willett 430 and etc.

The VJ1510 is positioned as a high end CIJ where the price level is above the Videojet Excel 170i, Videojet 43s and VJ1310. But considering the actual requirement of the CIJ marking and coding application, the feature of VJ1510 is way above market expectation, so does the cost of machine.

The question of mine is if the Videojet Excel series is phasing out? Or the VJ1510 is just a compliment to the Videojet Excel series product line up? Will it end up like the Videojet IPro series? The times will tell...

Hi! Sort of randomly found your blog today :)

I just thought I'd give you some info on the 1510 as I work as a service engineer for a VJ distributor.

The Excel series will be phased out over the next couple years and be replaced with the 1000 Line.

The 1000 Line will consist of the 1510, 1210 (Being rolled out very soon), and a series of top end printers that there's not much info on yet.

And I can promise right away that the 1510 will not be another iPro (Or 1310...), we have ~30 printers out in the field now, and very little problems.

I'm also a Videojet employee, but I've had no training on the printer. I've had a 1510 in my demo room for several months and it has been so easy to operate. All I do is turn on the power, turn on the jets, and start printing. At the end of the day I just turn off the jets and turn off the power.

@Anonymous, to really test the reliability of the CIJ, you need to create a full matrix print message and keep it printing non-stop for at least 24 hours.

In this case, since VJ1510 is a 34 dots printer, you need to create a 34 dots print message and let it print say at 1 print per second for 24 hours.

During the test print, the print quality shall be observed. After the 24 hours duration, take out the printhead cover and inspect if there is any ink stains on the high voltage plate.

If the VJ1510 passed the 24 hours test, you may then proceed to 48 and 74 hours test.

Let us know the result.

Hello i was wondering what some of the down falls with the VJ1310 are?

Hi Brodie, VJ1310 is a failure model as it was not launched in South East Asia region after it was known as problematic model in US and Europe. The print quality is bad and the printable height is very narrow and the top line of the bold font are opening up a gap (similar problem on Videojet Excel series).
